A serious pathway

Golf is a game for a lifetime.

Are you or your young golfer aiming for tournament golf, a scholarship, or professional play? John provides junior golf coaching in Calgary, AB at Country Hills Golf Club. As a former NCAA Division 1 golfer and National Champion college coach, he's built to guide serious young players toward exactly that.

John has been fortunate to work with students who've gone on to world championships, collegiate scholarships, and professional careers. But it's more than skill: he believes in shaping players into exemplary people through the values the game itself teaches: hard work, integrity, and humility.

How John builds junior golfers

Four things that matter over years of development.

01
Make It Fun

To become truly great at anything, you have to love it. With younger players fun comes first, and even through the teenage years, the game has to stay enjoyable and separate from a kid's identity.

02
Long-Term Development

A plan built around the stages kids actually go through: basic movement and golf skills, speed through the first growth spurt, technique, speed again through the second, then overall improvement through the rest of adolescence.

03
Early Successes

No one enjoys struggling at something new. John starts young players on short holes so they start making pars and birdies early, because that's what keeps them wanting to play.

04
Builds Resiliency

Golf can prepare a young person for the challenges of life. The ability to overcome setbacks and come back from disappointment is a lesson the game teaches almost every day out there.
